VOLUNTEER CREW ROLES:
THE MEET SOFTWARE, SWIMMINGLY, requires some online training for volunteer positions. For each meet you will have the opportunity to select the role you would like to fill from those described below.
- PARENT/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:
- This position is responsible for coordination and training the appropriate number of volunteers for each of the meets we host as well as the championship meet. This requires some computer work, people skills, enthusiasm and organizational skills to prepare for events.
- ANNOUNCER (2 volunteers/meet):
- You will be provided a script to announce before, during and at the close of each meet.
- STARTER (2 volunteers/meet):
- This person starts the heats at the meets.
- GUIDES (8 volunteers/meet):
- Assemble, coordinate and guide swimmers in the staging area and at lanes for each heat.
- TIMERS (16 volunteers/meet):
- Swimmingly, the swim meet software, makes use of cell phones (or any internet capable device) as “stopwatches”. You will never have to panic because you miss the start or forget to record a time. These functions are done automatically. Two timers are required per lane.
- *JUDGE-STROKE & TURN (4 volunteers/meet):
- Knowledge of the skills required for legal swims is necessary for these positions. Training for this role will be provided by the coaches prior to meets. Reporting of disqualifications is done via a phone/tablet.
- COMPUTER DATA ENTRY (2 volunteers/meet):
- This requires verifying results which are automatically entered via the timer phones, print ribbon labels throughout the meet and post of results.
- AWARDS AND END OF SEASON PARTY COORDINATOR (2 Volunteers):
- Organizing event result labels to place them appropriately on ribbons and/or trophies at home meets so they are ready so the visiting team can take them at the completion of the meet.
